Whether the leaders are pro CI or not is not an issue. We must keep our focus on providing Deaf babes with exposure to sign language. Regardless of the different opinions of the leaders, they need to present non-judgmental focus on the need Deaf babies have for sign language. The leaders are responsible to have as their only consistent message that Deaf children and Deaf babies be exposed to ASL. The leaders should have not have to tell their opinions or to answer question about CI or other philosophy such as spoken English. These have nothing to do with this message. That way all sub groups, those opposed to CI and those supporting of CI, will support DBC’s mission and other pro-ASL organizations.
Please stay focused on the topic and do not attack individuals. We are here to improve the system for the sake of Deaf babies and children. Thank you!

Aidan,
We can not ignore our history if we don’t know where we are going as we are moving along. We need to focus to what we need to pull together as unity. We don’t have to be “best” friend but to agree to put the stop to the oppressor. Once the problem resolves, we can move forward to next issues. “Focus” is the key word to work together even we don’t agree or agree. Something to move forward to prevent the repeating mistakes.

Hi Aidan,
Our history is very important, we cannot put it aside or even ignore it. This is why DBC was established in the first place. I think it triggered a lot of feelings among the deaf community and now we are facing the evils of what happened in our past.
I believe it is important for us to educate and to let parents know that oralism alone may be risky as there is no guaranteed outcome that a deaf child will learn how to speak and listen almost perfectly. It is like a gamble, either the deaf child will succeed or fail. DBC should push or even pave the way to make sure that a deaf child is successful in any communication method instead of wasting their formulative years if they are not able to grasp the language or whatever. More scientific studies need to be done on this issue to determine if a deaf child will be successful in oralism or ASL environment.
I also believe that DBC needs to host a conference alone, have support groups, develop a structured organization, and to move on. Without it, we will not be able to move on as we are crippled with a lot of anger and bitterness inside ourselves. We need to grieve, analyze and to forgive and then move on and focus on what we can do to make deaf babies lives better.
I love your expressive nature. YOu should do a movie with you as the star in it. Self-directed and all
I'd buy your video! Love you!

I agree with you that DBC leaders should not say anything about CI issue because they don't have training in audiology.
In fact, the CI is a machine as well as hearing aids that do nothing with the American Sign Language. For example, ASL-CI is an obviously baloney.
Secondly, someone who claimed to be called CIer, what happened to "Deaf"? As you know, Deaf is just human being which is created by God's his own purpose. CIer depends on the ear machine until CIer becomes Deaf again when that machine stops. It is not "miracle cure".
In own personal opinion, All Deaf children, who are primarily visual-learners, should learn ASL as their first language base. Until their first language base becomes solid, then learning English literacy as their second language. Until both languages become finally emulated, then whenever each Deaf child wants to learn how to use Speech skills or communicating modes like SEE or Cued Speech.
I have noticed that the learning priorities for the Deaf child are completely different between DCB and AGB.
The DCB priority: ASL. Reading English, Writing English, Speech or Communication Modes.
The AGB priority : Speech, Listening, Reading English, Writing English, Communication Modes, ASL.
