RESPECT COMES A FULL CIRCLE, NOT JUST ELDERS

My World… at a glance http://www.lois4.com/PetPeeve.html
Lois came from a deficient system where it manipulated her thinking that American Sign Language (ASL) is a bad thing and ASL is the ones that destroying Deaf people's education. Importantly, we give a support to Lois and other people who are similar as her and share right information respectfully and educationally. I actually read "million" of books and I don't look at just pictures. My English writing has been improved rapidly once I access to ASL. Where did she learn? Did she know that there are many Deaf people write better than hearing people who can't write and read? What's more... Hearing people had access to English and we didn't. Yet we still whip their butts. That tells you lot about Deaf people.
I know many Deaf people who are ASL users and they are fluent in both languages, which are English and ASL. Let's find out what were their secrets for succeeding in bilingual with English and ASL. I am sure they would be happy to share with us. It is for Deaf children's sake.
My education had begun when I was six years old. I turned out more than fine with my life. If it wasn’t for my determination and persistence to succeed, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
We, Deaf people, are very smart. It is really about LACK OF TOOLS. The system PREVENTS us from getting tools in order to be success. The system confiscates tools away from Deaf people and manipulates people into thinking that we Deaf people can't learn and ASL is a bad and dirty word. It is perfect example how the system got to Lois. BUT... She deserves to have a chance to learn. I could see that she is a beautiful person. She doesn’t need to be bashed at. It is not about elders. It is about all people with any age deserve respect.
The importance of Respect is for us to ask ourselves, “Would I like to be treated the way I am treating this other person?” Whenever we make mistakes, talk about it respectfully. Ask ourselves, “How could I do that differently next time?” Support and Encourage Deaf people will do better and better with practice.

I love quotes from different religions even though I’m not a religious person.

WORDS OF WISDOM: --The "Golden Rule"

"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor; that is the entire Torah; the rest is commentary; go learn it." Judaism, Babylonian Talmud, Shabbat 31a

"Do not to others what ye do not wish done to yourself. This is the whole Dharma; heed it well." Hinduism, The Mahabharata

"Human nature is good only when it does not do unto another whatever is not good for its own self." Zoroastrianism, Dadistan-I-Dinik, 94:5

"Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful." Buddhism, Udanavarga, 5:18

"Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself." Confucianism, The Analects, 15:23, 6:28

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Christianity, The Bible, Luke 6:13

"No one of you is a believer until you desire for another that which you desire for yourself." Islam, The Sunnah (from the Hadith)

LET'S BOYCOTT OSCAR ABOUT CREDITS/ A 16MM SHORT FILM

Let's boycott oscar for nominating these filmmakers who do not give a credit to crew members and actors. The directors/Writers were only ones that a credit had been given to.
IFILM http://www.ifilm.com/video/2822583/

This was my 16mm Film project for my first year class production. I had used Bolex camera with no motor. I had to wind the camera. It was a great experience. The students tend to say film by______ in their projects. I am only one Deaf student in a film department at my school and I see that often with hearing filmmakers. I am disappointed with some comment makers would generalize from a Deaf person to Deaf community or Deaf organization. This attitude needs to be stopped. I see this lot in hearing world as well. An Actor was upset with George Lucas for not crediting her on his movie. He had to cut her out from his movie. Please Spare Deaf community. I SUPPORT the idea that we as filmmakers give all our best efforts to give credits to all people who include in the production. It does make them feel good and encourage them to come back to work for you.

IN A RESPONSE TO GARY BROOKS: THE SICKO SYSTEM

We witnessed the system had the control where Deaf people turning against to each other. The SICKO SYSTEM is so hungry for more negatives. It would suck our Deaf souls in the system. We would be dehydrated and exhausted from focus on every little details. By time, we wouldn’t be able to function in order to fight against audism, linguisticism, deficient thinkers and many more.
Gary, Please don’t let anyone tell you different. YOU ARE A FILMMAKER. FILMMAKER IS NO LONGER APPLIED TO A NEGATIVE FOOTAGE. A FILMMAKER can be a VIDEOMAKER. Everyone has his or her own flaws. So what? My friend, the editor, always have said to me, “WE BORN, LEARN, AND DIE.” Take a deep breath and look at a bigger picture.
Gary, like people and me who are ENGLISH as SECOND LANGUAGE, hire editors to work with us and to revise the grammar. These editors would focus on editing grammar, not idea. Screenwriters hire script consults to work with them and to improve their scripts.
“ME” model doesn’t work. “WE” Model will bring unity and respect in this community. I notice some Deaf filmmakers choose to work alone but it can be too much. It is hard work. I suggest us to work together collerbatively and give some work to others so the vision will stay strong, fresh and clear.

VRS: SAY NO TO FUNDING CUTS

As for now, I feel we should support VRS and say no to FCC for funding cut. We have only a few weeks left before FCC makes a final decision. I suggest we put our concerns about the costing aside and get to FCC not to cut the funding. Once we finish with our battle with FCC which should be in July. We will get back to our concerns about our taxpayers and our complaints about costing too much money. We need to get NAD, VRS companies, freelance interpreters, interpreter requesters and agencies get involve our discussion and spill our concerns on the table. But now, importantly, for now, we must say NO to FCC because we don't have time to collect information. Once, we collect the information, we will do something about it in order not a burden to our taxpayers's, Deaf community's, and Hearing community's economic values.

DEAFHOOD: PADDY LADD

In summer of 2006, I went to Deafhood workshop at NAD and didn’t expect anything about what it would do to my life. After I took DeafHood workshop, it really made a big impact on my life. I witnessed how it impacts many Deaf people. Deafhood really inspired many Deaf people. The presenters were GENIE GENTZ, ELLA LENTZ, and DAVID EBERWEIN.

David Eberwein went to PADDY LADD’s workshop at Deaf Way II. Paddy Ladd inspired David. Wait… Paddy Ladd is from hearing family and was in mainstream school all his life. It has nothing to do with DOD. David came back to his home state and shared this with Ella Lentz and Genie Gentz. They read and discussed about this book. They decided to give a workshop at NAD. What's more, they paid for their flight and hotel out of their pocket. It’s odd for NAD that they would pay interpreters and CART but wouldn’t pay these presenters.

PADDY LADD is an author of a book, Understanding Deaf Culture: In Search of Deafhood. It requires us to think and analyze. It takes me a while to read this book. Like JOEY BAER suggested us to set up a think tank group where people in a group can discuss and help each other to understand the depth of the book.

GENIE GENTZ, ELLA LENTZ, AND DAVID EBERWEIN travel and provide Deafhood workshops just BECAUSE Of their PASSION and desire having a BETTERMENT OF THE DEAF COMMUNITY. They work very hard and sacrifice their times for the Deaf community. Let give them big HANDS WAVE….

I strongly recommend you to invite them to your state for conferences or events. You can contact Hawk, Sprint, any organization, and ask them to sponsor this event. I am currently working on finding sponsor for them to come in NYC.

...AND THOU SHALT HONOR: TRUE DIVERSE DEAF/ASL PRO-ACTIVISTS

Every week in my vlog, Deaf/ASL Pro-activist will be recognized as a great service by working so hard, sticking with Deaf community and bringing them to a higher quality of lives. Recognitions go to Joey Baer, Barb DiGiovanni (thanks to Jean Boutcher for giving me Barb's full last name) and David Eberwein. They work so hard for Deaf community and make sure we are fully informed about the system that hurt our lives as Deaf people. They intend to continue this battle with the system that cripples our Deaf lives. They do it on their volunteer time. They spend so much time to research and to meet with different Deaf people on VPs and in persons. I am so proud to have them in our Deaf community.
